New Grandson Dominic finally here!

Stacy and Justin welcomed their first child, son Dominic Junius McEwan on March 23rd at 3:05 am.  He weighed 8 lbs 13 oz and was 22 inches at birth.

I was able to be in the delivery room when he was born.  It was a beautiful birth.  Stacy did awesome!  Epidurals are a wonderful invention...no more "natural" childbirth from the days when I was having babies.  Stacy was so comfortable she was crocheting.
She was so happy to be at the hospital...it was wonderful to see her smiling and so happy.

I love being grandma!  It is the best job ever..

I was able to attend the Scrapbook USA Expo on Friday and Saturday.  The shopping was great and the classes were so much fun.

It has been a great week!  I am tired but a good tired.

I am thankful to have family living so close..

Thinking about my Dad

My dad passed away in 2004.  I have been thinking about him and decided I needed to scrapbook a few pages about him.
The first one was an adorable picture of when he was a baby
My sisters and I gave the Eulogy for my Dad...I went thru the words and picked out some to make the following pages:

It was so good for me to think about the many blessings I received from my father.  I need to grieve the loss of my father at times.

I have also had fun scrapbooking old pictures of our family:

I appreciate the hobby that helps me deal with my emotions and captures so many memories.

I miss my Dad and Jason and need to remember them in my pages.

I have had a long break from work...can keep my house clean and organized, spend time with my girls and grandchildren and have lots of time to scrapbook.

Feeling better..no baby yet..

I have not been blogging for a few weeks...I came down with the cold/flu going around.  I was frustrated because Stacy went to the hospital and was there a few days..and I could not go visit her.

I find myself thinking about Jason every day...and tears come.  The pain of losing a child is unbearable at times.

Here are some recent pages I have completed:

I have been researching my ancestors on ancestry.com.  I decided to create a page about my 2nd great grandfather Jacob Perkins that served in the civil war.

I found these family group pictures from 1978..fun to scrap.

I always need to capture my feeling about losing Jason..

I decided to redo my scrapbook page about Stacy missing Jason..

I am enjoying my time with my girls and grandchildren...and love all my scrapbooking toys.

Productive week in the scrap room

My first task this week was to get the baby shower invitations done for Stacy.  I got them in the mail this week.
I still had plenty of scrapbook time...so I finished 6 layouts this week...so fun:

I was also busy at work...finished closing books for 2010.  Yay...

I was supposed to be in Texas last weekend..but all the flights were cancelled due to the weather.  I was sad to miss my nephew Patricks performance in "Guys and Dolls".  His reviews were outstanding.

I attended a great Stake Womans Conference yesterday...such a great speaker.

Life is busy with work, grandkids, and scrapbooking.

Redo Scrap pages

I started scrapbooking right after my son, Jason took his own life on May 19, 2006.  I now look at some of my pages done right after..and want to redo them...this week I decided to redo three of them:
before
after

Before

After

I don't have a scan of the before..but here is the redo

I am looking forward to a trip to Texas this week.  My nephew, Patrick is a lead in a high school play.  He is such a great kid.  I have not been to Texas for almost 2 years.  The last time I went  I came home with a broken left elbow and right hand...not this time..

I am thankful to have all my scrapbook toys and time to spend on my hobby.

Scrapbooking Christmas pics...and trying to read again

I have had fun scrapbooking the grandkids Christmas pictures:

I love my schedule..working only 2 days a week.  I have lots of scrapbook time.

I am trying to read novels again.  I have not been able to stay interested in reading since Jason died almost 5 years ago.  It has been a frustrating thing...before Jason died, I read about 2 to 3 books a week.

I am thankful for family and the blessings of eternal families.  I don't know how I would have coped with the loss of Jason and Erica without the gospel in my life.

Cleaning..Organizing..and Scrapping

I have been on a cleaning and organizing kick lately..not a bad thing.  I started with my pantry.  I can now see what I have.  I attacked the laundry room next.   I seem to collect stuff on the top of my washer and dryer.

Today it was my least favorite...my refrigerator...

I have also had time to scrap some...here is my latest ..

I am enjoying my days off with the house to myself..Rick teases me because I like my alone time.

I am trying a new recipe for dinner...chicken noodle casserole....we will see if Rick likes it.

I have been not as good about taking my Prozac..and the depression is back...I am thankful there are medications to help...  back to being better at taking my meds.
