Moving into Scraproom

The Scraproom is finally done...it is so awesome.

I am having so much fun putting the stuff away.  I hired a couple of teenagers from the ward, Susan and Michelle Thurgood, to help me on Tuesday.  They were awesome!

I love the shelves that my builder, Tony Allred, built for me.  I have decided to have him build another set.  They are perfect for storing albums, pictures...

I finished 1 scrapbook page of a dream I had of Jason..

I love spending time in my scrapbook room..it is so huge..got my music from my ipod going with oldies.  I am such a lucky girl...

more travels...Texas

I just got home from a trip to Texas for my Nephew's Graduation.  I am so proud of him.  He is such a great young man.  He is heading to college in a couple of months to Ole Miss.

I am glad I don't live in Texas..it was 103 and humid...came back to Utah..high in low 70's.

My scraproom is coming along great..should be able to move in next week...can't wait.

I have done a few pages in between trips to CA and Tx:

I have been reading the book "Jesus Wept, Understanding and Enduring Loss" by Joyce and Dennis Ashton.  It has helped me so much.  It openly describes all the "stupid" comments people make that don't understand the loss.  It also helped validate that you can only compare our own trials and losses...and not compare to others.

It feels so good to be home..nice quiet house...laundry going...maybe some scrapbook time.

Scrapboook room...trip to CA

The scrapbook room is in progress..here are some pics:

The sheetrock is all up..this week will be taping and texturing.  I am getting so excited to have all this room.

I was able to drive to CA last week for Jason's 5th angel day...  I had to have chains put on to get over the Sierra...in May!  I was so glad to have time to spend with Sue Bosworth.
We had an open invitation to come to the cemetery on Thursday afternoon.  Tony, Audrey and their baby Silas came, as well as Jon & Bonnie Konar and Jerry Medlar.   Audrey brought a package of mints....she said that every time Jason came over, her son Marcus would ask for a mint..and Jason would always have some for him.
It was a beautiful day...so many tears.  How did 5 years go by so quickly.

I was also able to have lunch with Sharon Peterson on Friday..she lost a son to a car accident just a couple of months ago.

The trip ended on a sad note.  Rick's Aunt June passed away on Friday afternoon.  She was such a special lady.  We were blessed to live close to her for so many years.  My children have so many special memories of her.  Stacy loved to go over to her house and learn to crochet and hear the many stories June had of growing up in Lincoln.   Jason and Dusty would ride their bikes over and visit.

I ended up flying home Saturday instead of driving. I left the car at the airport so Rick could use it when he flys in Tuesday night for the funeral on Wednesday.

Here is another scrapbook page I finished for Dominic:

I have been reading a book "Joy Cometh in the Morning"  by Fran Haffen.

Here is an exerpt that touched me ..a speaker at a funeral for a young woman

"Despite our understanding of where this little girl is now, why are we still filled with such sorrow that it cannot be quenched by our knowledge of the gospel?" His answer was that our innate longing to belong to one another and the "homesickness" of separation from our departed loved ones are intentional parts of the plan of salvation. These yearnings can stay with us as a forceful, gentle pull toward our heavenly home."

This helped me understand so much...that we are here for a short time and the grief we feel is part of the plan...  love and miss you Jason

Hammers start on Monday

My new scrapbook is becoming a reality...we changed which room we are making the scraproom..this one is so much bigger...30 x 14...amazing.  We are also putting a bathroom in the basement.

I have been so busy getting ready for the scraproom that I have not had as much time to scrapbook...but here are a couple of new pages:

I also got the scrapbook I did for Stacy's wedding scanned..here are a few of the pages:

I will start uploading pictures of my scraproom in progress this week.

I leave to California on May 17th.  Jason's angel date is the 19th.  It is hard to believe that it has been 5 years since he left.  The pain is so raw at times.

Christines' 33rd birthday was yesterday.  I met her in the afternoon for a mother-daughter pedicure.  It was so fun and relaxing.   I also got her some running clothes for a gift.

I am looking forward to having all my family with me tomorrow for Mothers Day.  We will see if the girls can let the guys do the cooking and cleanup..

New scrapbook room

We are planning on adding a huge scrapbook room for me in the basement...22 x 14...  I am so excited.
I will have pictures when it gets started...maybe 3 weeks away.

I have done a variety of scrapbook pages this week.

The first is about a foal that my horse Classy had in 1972...so cute..but only lived a couple of weeks:

I love creating pages on Dominic...Stacy took some darling pictures of him this week.  I have enjoyed going to her house the 2 days a week I am working and holding him...

Scrapbooking has helped me share my feelings....especially the loss of Jason and Erica.  I was in my scraproom and found pictures of Jason and Ericas grave...and the inspiration came to create a page on the hardest question " How many children do you have?"
I also found a darling picture of Stacy..

I still have to create pages about Jason...

New Grandson Dominic finally here!

Stacy and Justin welcomed their first child, son Dominic Junius McEwan on March 23rd at 3:05 am.  He weighed 8 lbs 13 oz and was 22 inches at birth.

I was able to be in the delivery room when he was born.  It was a beautiful birth.  Stacy did awesome!  Epidurals are a wonderful invention...no more "natural" childbirth from the days when I was having babies.  Stacy was so comfortable she was crocheting.
She was so happy to be at the hospital...it was wonderful to see her smiling and so happy.

I love being grandma!  It is the best job ever..

I was able to attend the Scrapbook USA Expo on Friday and Saturday.  The shopping was great and the classes were so much fun.

It has been a great week!  I am tired but a good tired.

I am thankful to have family living so close..
